In our safety focused environment it is important to protect all personnel from any hazards that could potentially cause injury or death.  Current legislation requires that any hazards that are associated with explosives; whether processed or stored need to be controlled.

Throughout the UK’s Explosives business community there has been a severe impact on continued operations to Explosives Licensed sites due to the implementation of legislation.

Organizations manage their explosives operations themselves to some degree and extent.  However, this self management of explosives safety may place the organization at risk if there is inadequate explosives safety experience coupled with a biased approach due to operational constraints within the company.

It is essential that in this day and age companies are able to demonstrate an unbiased and impartial approach to Explosives Safety and Licensing decisions in order to maintain a safe environment for Explosives workers, Contractors and the general public.

It is imperative that all staff within an organisation or establishment is made aware of their requirements to comply with Explosives Regulations, from management to the shop floor.  The scope of “duty of care” may extend to the public as well as staff due to safeguarding of explosives sites or retail outlets etc.
